Handprint Dragonfly Craft

Yet another craft that uses handprints (I love 'em!!). This one needs handprints with the fingers squeezed together instead of spread apart.

Print out the template of choice (you can print the B&W version on colored paper if you like)
Color the template pieces (if using the B&W version)
Cut out the template pieces (young children may need help with this step)

Trace the child's hands on colored paper and cut out:
- The dragonfly looks best if the fingers of the hand are kept pressed together
- you end up with a handprint that looks like the one to the right.
- it's not the end of the world if the fingers are spread apart though!

Assemble the wings:
- Glue three handprints together to make the longest possible wing
- Repeat so you have 4 wings
Finish the rest of the dragonfly
- Glue two of the wings to the top (fat end) of the long body shape -- they should slant slightly up
- Glue the last two wings just under the first two, slanting slightly down
- Glue the circle (head) to the body shape (fat end)
- Glue the face and antennas onto the head
- Glue the flower in the "hair", on a wing or beside the neck
- OPTIONAL: Print a Handprint Poem on the back

Set page margins to zero if you have trouble fitting the template on one page (FILE, PAGE SETUP or FILE, PRINTER SETUP in most browsers).
