DLTK's Crafts for Kids
Bean Bag Animal
Calendar
The pokemon calendar
and Winnie the Pooh calender
were hits, so I've kept designing! For children with a lower attention span, try
giving them one month at a time on the 1st of each month. That way, the kids won't
be overwhelmed by 12 pages at once and it will help them learn the months of the
year!
TEMPLATES
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Print out the templates of choice
(see the top of the page for the links to the templates). If using a black and white
printer, you can print the "Blank Calendar Pages" on coloured construction
paper.
- Each month is a separate 7.5 inch x 10 inch
template. Therefore, to print a whole year it will take 12 pages (plus Bean Bag
Animal Pages to glue on if you go that route).
- Options:
- Blank Calendar Pages:
- Print each month which has room
for a Bean Bag Animal in the right hand corner but is not pre-printed.
- Print the Bean Bag Animal
Pages that go with it.
- Colour (as necessary) and cut the
characters from the Bean Bag Animal pages.
- Glue the characters onto the
calendar pages.
- You could also glue a few photos
of the family to some of the months instead of the characters for a bit of variety.
- Bean Bag Animal Calendar Pages:
- has the character already on the
month.
- The downside is that you're stuck
with the character I've picked for the month.
- The upside is that it takes less
time.
- Mix and Match:
- To get the best of both worlds, there's nothing
preventing you from printing the Bean Bag Animal Calendar Pages that you like and
the Blank Calendar Pages/Bean Bag Animal Pages for the months you want to create
yourself.
- Trim the Calendar pages as
desired (this isn't necessary, but you may wish to do it if it isn't quite centered on the
page. Ripping along a ruler works well for giving a straight edge.
- Once your calendar is complete
you can hang it on the wall or cork board using a push pin. Tear off each month as
it's complete.
- Close the template window after printing to
return to this screen.
- Sometimes it may say "No pages available to
print".
- This happens with some browsers and means that
you've printed or print previewed once already.
- If you get this message, hit RELOAD or REFRESH
and try printing again.
- Set page margins to zero if you have trouble
fitting the template on one page (FILE, PAGE SETUP in most browsers).
