| Message: | Be sure to check with the laws in your state, in some states it is illegal to videotape people without their knowledge. Becareful with these laws. Usually they pertain to time while the other person has the reasonable assumption that they are not being observed. In your own home is not one of these situations. Also paid employees should always have the reasonable assuption that they may be taped no matter where the job location is. I reccomend telling a nanny that you have a nanny cam. This will help build the bond with them. If they find it on their own or hear from the children it will weaken the employee/employer relationship. However if I suspected abuse I wouldn't inform the baby sitter. I used to babysit all the time. I kept a log of what the child(ren) did. I wrote down the time, what they did, their reaction, what they ate and aprox how much etc. The parents were always appreciative for the log. It kept them informed of the ativities and schedulle of their child(ren) did in their absence. Also often Gparents, aunts, uncles, or friends would come in to check up on us. It wasn't done in an obsessive manner though. More to talk and play with the child(ren). I welcomed the extra adult contact especially when I was sitting for long days (one job I had was 12-14 hours daily). I think I looked forward to Gma's visits more than the child LOL |
