| Subject: | Re: I want to do something special for my daughter |
| Message: | I'm having probs like that with my son being in preschool this year. He was fine the first week (2 days) then came running out of the classroom screaming the next Monday. He picked out this Dora backpack and was so excited about showing it to his friends and teachers. I didn't think there was anything wrong with him having a backpack of his favorite character. It's not femine looking at all. It's purple with a pic of Dora and boots on the front. No flowers, butterflies etc that would make it femine looking. These little 3 and 4 y/o kids do. Not only are they tormenting him about it in words and teasing they empty his backpack, hid a ruler he carries with him, teased him about having underwear in it (don't most preschoolers have changes of clothes with them at school???), These boys and girls wee putting these underwear on their heads calling him 'girlie baby', they hide the backpack etc. He gets jumped on the minute he arrives to the time I show up to get him. The teachers do nothing to prevent this.I have seen them being right there watching this and do nothing. They don't tell the children it is inappropiate or defend my son. That makes me even mader. This morning I didn't even take him. He woke up crying that he didn't want to go because the kids don't like his backpack. I have given him the chance to switch backpacks, he doesn't want to back down. I don't blame him he should be able to choose what he wants. It's not his fault his classmates are so ignorant. I am actually thinking about pulling him out. If the teachers can't handle these little kids and keep my child feeling safe then they aren't equipted to take care of my child. As you can tell I'm POed. I have been a preschool teacher this behavior would never have allowed in the centers I worked at. I also should have been notified that they were expierencing problems and that the parents of the trouble makers were informed also. |
