In response to alternatives for Halloween parties, at our Church we have a Harvest Party. Our kids usually go to one of the places that offers hayrides, punkin patches, and other activities. They return when Church is over. The adults set in their cars with their blinker lights on while the kids trick-or-treat at each car. Has been a very good alternative for our young people. They still have the benefit of trick-or-treating, while being safe. They are allowed to wear a costume if they desire, just do not allow any scary stuff such as witches, monsters, ghosts, etc. We stay with the cartoon characters, and also encourage Bible people as a dress up. Hope this may help.
