Whenever I think of the Caribbean, I always think of their metal bands. You could make one of their drums using coffee cans, or since you are in England, the small tea cannisters from companies such as Twinnigns. Have people decorate with paper or paint the outside. Two small sticks could then be used for the drum mallets.
