I have a good idea for a special Mother's Day craft. My niece made this in nursery school and presented it to her parents for Christmas, but Mom's will surely love it!
Purchase a ceramic tile (beige or white) at a home center. I bought a tile 6" wide by 8" tall. Using a paint color of your choice (child's favorite color), paint the child's entire palm and fingers and center the hand on the tile and press to leave a nice handprint. On the bottom of the tile, you can write the child's full name and date with paint pens. On the back of the tile you can glue a piece of felt and then trim away the excess to finish it off nicely (or you can by sticky back felt). Then you can hand write or print out the following poem on nice white paper and glue on the back of the tile:
Sometimes I get discouraged Because I am so small And I always leave my fingerprints On furniture and walls.
But every day I'm growing - - - I'll be grown up some day And all those tiny handprints Will surely fade away.
So here's a final handprint Just so you can recall Exactly how my fingers looked When I was very small.
*sniffle* This poem is a tear jerker!! You can include a small wooden picture stand so the tile can be displayed or I think you can buy a picture hanger that can be glued on the back. This makes a great keepsake. Let me know if anyone's tried this, what you thought and how it turned out. Good Luck! :)
