Hi everyone,
It's Leanne here (the mom who runs the website) -- I'm back on the discussion group (yay!). Sorry for the long wait, but with our big move I've had to squeeze website stuff in here and there *laugh*.

So... what's up with us!

The move!
---------
We are having a hoot in the new house. We're really enjoying the extra space (for those of you who are new, we lived in a 1700sq foot (ish) house and are now in a much larger 3000sq foot one -- it all started last summer when the children ended up with 3.5 months of summer holidays (yikes!) The school went from a "year round" system to a "traditional" system and the change resulted in us having nearly double the time off that we normally do. Now don't get me wrong... I love my family -- but 3.5 months together in a house with an "open" floorplan, small yard and no basement just about did us all in. It was great when they were toddlers that I could see them everywhere in the house but now that we're growing up we figured it would be nice to have a bit more privacy (and soundproofing!) Plus, the neighbourhood we've moved to has a middle school so Tasha won't have to be bused for grades 5 thru 8.

We're pretty much unpacked, though we're still rearranging things on a nearly daily basis *grin*. Darren finally got the computers all up and running and connected to the outside world. The first thing he and his friends did (even before we had furniture) was start cutting holes in floors, ceilings and walls to run "network cable" here and there *shudder*. But, for the most part, they managed to cover up the holes afterwards (or at least poke them in out of the way places)

The girls (and the dog) are loving the bigger yard and basement area. They wish they had a door to completely shut us out... but I'm quite happy being able to walk in on them unexpectedly every so often... keeps them on their toes *wink*.

And me... well, I'm missing my old house *laugh*. I'm SUCH a nester. I've had to resist the temptation to drive by and see how "my" daffodils and alliums are doing. But I'm sure this will seem like my new home in no time at all (we've already managed to accidentally put a hole in the wall in the kitchen -- Darren was chasing the cat, slipped on the floor and poked his knee through the wall -- er and yes, Darren is my husband not my dog *grin*).

School:
-------
School's almost done for this year! can you believe it? Not that I'm unhappy, but it sure did seem to fly by fast. Tasha struggled with marks early in the year (grade 5/6 split class -- she's grade 5) so we sat down and discussed what could be done to solve the problem -- and much to her distress removed all electronics from the study area (no radios, gameboys or tvs allowed). Marks went from 60s to 90s seemingly overnight. I was shocked, but happy that we figured out how to solve the problem. In the new house, the entire upstairs is electronics free -- the bonus room is our new "study" (it's a 2 story with a basement so there's still plenty of room to enjoy the radio without disrupting the study room).

Kaitlyn (grade 2) is still enjoying school immensely -- I hope that lasts forever! (fingers crossed)

Vacations:
----------
We don't have any vacation plans this year. We're feeling a bit strapped with the house purchase (not too bad... but there are always those extra little costs that pop up so we've decided to just stay home this year). We'll still be heading back to visit Darren's family in Saskatchewan a few times this summer I'm sure. His mom is also in the midst of moving (from the family home on the farm to a townhouse in the city -- definitely a good move for her stage in life, but I don't envy her the task of culling through her life's possessions to fit everything into her new smaller space). We're all looking forward to seeing her new place.

Sharla:
-------
Sharla's my sister in law and she's the mom behind the scenes for a lot of dltk-bible (she doesn't draw *grin*, but I think she does a great job writing out the teacher's guides and children's version stories). She's had a busy year this year with the birth of her second daughter and has just started getting back to adding a bit on the dltk-bible site.

The Websites:
-------------
I'm happy with how they've been coming along... I still hop from thing to thing (*laugh* --- I'm sure that will never stop) but I've managed to finish up a few things I started and flesh out some of the more popular sections (like the mini books) this year. Apparently, this spiffy new discussion group has "polls" -- I'm going to try to start using them (assuming I can figure out how *wink*) to give you folks a bit of a vote on what areas I should spend time on.

Have a great week everyone!
Leanne

Hi Leanne, I am new to the computer but and old hand at arts and crafts. I came across your site when I started looking for something to keep my kids from driving me crazy the rest of the summer. I just wanted to let you know that this is the best and easyest site to use that I have found. Your site is also the only site I have found that lets me personalize my creations. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Hi Leanne,

It's good to be back! It has been a long time since I've been here, and I like this new forum. Congratulations on the new house!

The reason of my absence is my starting of digital scrapping, I'm also doing it for some designers at a site. It is so addicting! Come and see my layouts if you want: http://www.threescrapateers.com/gallery/browseimages.php?do= member&imageuser=26

Just like Ronnie I missed the messageboard, but I completely understand why you had to close it. Some weirdos found it very interesting to post in the end, wasn't funny anymore.
Going to see now if I can found the old crowd!

Hi Leanne

I stumbled across this site by accident and its one of the best sites I have seen. Im in the UK and I nanny for three children, everyday when I get to work the youngest 2 (3 yr old twins) as me what I have bought for them to do off my computer today and sit for hours doing your crafts. They loved the Thomas the Tank Engine Paper Crafts. Ill send some pictures when I have them sorted out.

Thanks for making my job easier (if I am honest I enjoy making the crafts just as much as they do!!)

Leanne
I came across your sight while looking for printable thank you cards and have been dropping in ever since. The latest thing I took advantage of is bingo cards for my sister in laws baby shower...I can't tell you how much I LOVE this resource. You have no idea how much I was dreading writing out 40 Bingo cards by hand on printable blanks...but there they were right where I find everything I need...self generating bingo cards. And they are cute to boot!

Thanks so much for the great site and for the countless hours you must spend keeping it all going!
