Blue's Clues Cake

Hi! I just wanted to say ‘thanks’ for the great Blue’s Clues cake template on your site.  I couldn’t find a Blue’s Clues cake mould in time for my son Kyle’s 3rd birthday, so I searched for cake ideas online, and found your site! The cake was relatively easy to make…I used a Funfetti cake mix, and made the buttercream icing from scratch.  I used the smaller template, so I also made the paw-print cake to go along with it.  I looked at all the other fan art pictures on your site, and decided to use a star tip to decorate the top.  I used the marshmallow and chocolate chip idea for the eyes…they turned out nice! I also tried the ‘dipping the knife in warm water’ tip to keep crumbs to a minimum on my spreading knife (great tip I will use from now on!).  I used Wilton coloring paste in ‘Sky Blue’ for the blue part and ‘Red Red’ for the tongue.  The color turned out nicely.  I used generic brand blue sprinkles (raspberry flavored!) for the spots.  For the nose, I piped stars around the edges to sort of outline the nose, and then added the sprinkles to the inside. (My piping skills were poor…I did this at 1:00 a.m.!) Anyway, the expression on my son’s face when he saw the cake the next morning was priceless! I’m very appreciative of your site and for all the fan’s photos as well.
