Narwhal Paper Craft

This adorable little narwhal is a simple cut and paste paper craft for children to make. The shapes are easy to cut out making it a good choice for young children just learning to use scissors.

Did you know?

The narwhal's tusk or horn is actually a modified tooth. The boys sometimes rub their tusks together when they meet -- this is called "tusking".

All narwhal's use their tusks to sense things in the water (the tusks have channels in them that feed information to the narwhal).

Materials:

• something to color with if using the B&W version,
• scissors,
• glue,
• paper
   
• Optional: wiggly eyes

Instructions:

• Print out the template of choice -- there is a choice of black and white or color.
• If using the B&W template, this is the children's chance to get creative. Color it in however you like using colored pencils, crayons, markers, pastels or paints. This is a fun one to paint since the body shape is nice and big.
• Cut out the craft template pieces. Some of the pieces may require the help of an adult or older child.
• Glue the narwhal together:
   
  • Glue the eye near the mouth.
  • Glue the fin on the side of the body.
  • Glue the tusk at the top of the head.

Templates:

• Set page margins to zero if you have trouble fitting the template on one page (FILE, PAGE SETUP or FILE, PRINTER SETUP in most browsers).
