"I Have Different Emotions" Craft
"Sarah" asked for some ideas on different emotions! I thought my 2 year old would have fun with this theme so tried to make a craft suitable for younger kids too.
Materials you will need are a printer, paper (I
prefer white construction paper or another heavier paper), scissors, glue, crayons and a
paper plate/CD/or margarine lid. Optional materials include wool for hair and a
popsicle stick or tongue depressor to
turn the craft into a puppet.
- Cut two pieces of construction paper the size of
your circle if you aren't using a paper plate (trace around the CD or margarine lid).
- Glue the construction paper to your circle (both sides).
- This step can be done by an adult earlier.
- Print out the template of choice.
- Color craft pieces if you printed the black and white version of the template.
- Cut out the pieces. This step may require adult assistance and can be done prior to making the craft with the children.
- Paste the template pieces onto the circle to make an expression (see pictures above for some ideas). The eyebrows are a key way to change the emotions!
- You can make these "reversible" by gluing one face on the front (happy for example) and one on the back (sad for example).
- Put some wool on for hair if you like.
- Glue a popsicle stick on to make a puppet if you like.
- Ask your child to describe how the character is feeling. Ask them to describe a situation that made them feel that way.
