Butter Tart Squares

You won't need a rolling pin for this old favorite ~ the base is just pressed into the pan. (and yes the Irish do add oats in the filling.)
Base:
 | 1/2 cup butter |
 | 1 cup all-purpose flour |
 | 2 tablespoons brown sugar |
Cut butter into flour and brown sugar until crumbly; press into greased 9-inch square pan. Bake at 350 F (180 C) for 15 minutes.
Filling:
 | 2 large eggs, beaten |
 | 1-1/2 cups brown sugar |
 | 1/2 cup quick -cooking oats |
 | 1/2 teaspoon baking powder |
 | 1/4 teaspoon salt |
 | 1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
 | 1/2 cup chopped walnuts |
Combine all ingredients well and pour over the baked base.
Return to oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
Cool before cutting into squares.
