You won't need a rolling pin for this old favorite ~ the base is just pressed into the pan. (and yes the Irish do add oats in the filling.)

Butter Tart Squares Ingredients:
Base:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons brown sugar
Filling:
2 large eggs, beaten
1-1/2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup quick -cooking oats
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped walnuts Directions:
Base:
1. Cut butter into flour and brown sugar until crumbly
2. Press into greased 9-inch square pan.
3. Bake at 350 F (180 C) for 15 minutes.
Filling:
4. Combine all ingredients well and pour over the baked base.
5. Return to oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
6. Cool before cutting into squares.
