Circle
Lamb Paper Craft
Shapes, Scissor Skills, Colors, and
Counting Practice
contributed by Leanne Guenther
This cute little lamb craft can be used to teach preschool and kindergarten kids a variety of skills. You don't have to use all the thoughts for lessons... just choose the ones you're working on with your child.
This is fun to do along with the circles lion paper craft!
Alternative: Instead of providing the template, you can cut out circle and triangle templates in similar sizes from sturdy cardboard and allow the children to trace these templates onto construction paper to create their own pieces.
Materials:
- scissors,
- glue,
- printer,
- paper
Thoughts for Lessons:
SCISSOR SKILLS:
- This craft has lots of nice large circles to cut out -- good scissor practice!
- You can precut the template into separate pieces (roughly) to make it a bit easier for beginning crafters to cut out the circles.
SHAPES:
- have the children make a pile of all the circles. Brainstorm items in the household that are also circles (a plate for example)
COLORS:
- verbally instruct the children on how to assemble the shapes using the colors of the shapes. (ie: Take the grey circle and glue it on the white circle.).
SIZES:
- show the children two circles and ask -- is this one bigger, smaller or the same size as that one.
COUNTING AND SORTING:
- Count the circles.
- Count the circles of various sizes
Assembly Directions:
-
The largest circle is the head. The mouth and eyebrows are drawn on the head already. Point this out to the children.
- The circles lamb actually has a couple of triangles for ears. Glue the triangles onto the sides of the head.
-
Glue the eyes underneath of the eyebrows
-
Glue the small grey circle (the nose) above the mouth.
-
Glue the two medium sized circles with swirls on them over the ears. This is some of the lamb's wool.
-
Glue the three larger circles with swirls on them on top of the head. This is the lamb's wool.
And you're done!
Templates:
- Close the template window after printing to return to this screen.
- Set page margins to zero if you have trouble fitting the template on one page (FILE, PAGE SETUP or FILE, PRINTER SETUP in most browsers).
