Pop-Up Kabba Eid Card

Materials:

• black and yellow construction paper 1 each
• any other light colored construction paper 2 each
• scissors,
• glue,
• stapler
• crayons or markers

Instructions:

• Put both light colored construction paper on top of black paper and fold in half the short way.
• Put one light colored paper aside and fold again the rest of the papers in the other direction to make a crease.
• Fold the black paper again so both edges meet in the center and 2 new creases are created on either side of the middle crease. (The fold will open in the middle).
• Fold both papers in half again (back to step #1) keeping black paper on top of light paper. Cut two slits about four inches apart from the fold to the crease.
• Cut and remove the intact slit part of the lighter colored paper so there is a rectangle shape opening.
• Staple or glue all three papers keeping the black paper in the middle, being sure NOT to glue down the part that pops out.  Fold all papers so the inverted section of the black paper pops out.  This will be the Kabba that will pop out when the card is opened.
• Cut out a thin strip of yellow paper to glue a gold border along the top of the Kabba. Students can also use the yellow paper to make a gold door for the Kabba. Finally, each student decorates the outside and inside of the card with messages like Eid Mubarak or Happy Eid!!
