Welcome to DLTK's Crafts for Kids, where imagination comes to life! In this tutorial, we'll guide you through the simple and delightful process of creating a paper bag camel puppet. With just a few basic materials and a touch of creativity, you'll have your very own charming camel friend in no time.

Puppets are fun tools for teaching; children are always happy to engage with an activity when invited by a cheerful little puppet.  It is amazing how a smiling kitty cat can encourage even very shy children to take part in circle time.

Materials:

• Plain paper bag (light brown or tan color)
• Strips of brown construction paper or yarn for the hair
• Light brown or beige paper for the muzzle and ears
• White paper for the eyes
• Black marker or black paper for the eyelashes
• Glue
• Scissors

Optional:

• big wiggly eyes

Print the Template:

• Print and cut out the provided templates for the camel's muzzle, ears, and eyes.
• Color in the template pieces using your choice of colors. Beige or brown would work well for a camel.
• Attach the hair onto the top of the paper bag using glue, creating a mane-like effect.
• Glue the muzzle onto the flap of the bag, aligning it with the bottom of the bag to form the camel's snout. Add a friendly smile using markers or by drawing it.
• Glue the eyes onto the eyelash area of the camel, just above the muzzle. Draw black pupils on the white circles to give the camel a curious gaze.
• Attach the ears onto the corners of the bag, positioning them to the sides of the muzzle.
• Allow the glue to dry completely.
• Slip your hand inside the paper bag and let your imagination soar as you bring your camel puppet to life. Create stories, put on puppet shows, and have fun exploring the desert with your new puppet friend!
