"The world is a fine place and worth fighting for." ~Ernest Hemingway
Every June 5th is a day used by the United Nations to stimulate worldwide awareness of environmental issues.
World Environment Day began in
1972 as a day for people from all walks of life to come together to ensure a cleaner, greener and brighter outlook for themselves and future generations. There are lots of ways to celebrate World Environemnt Day, like doing a neighbourhood or park clean-up, looking at ways to reduce waste in the house like composting or taking shorter showers, or even introducing new eating habits like vegetarian mondays! We've also included some fun earth and environment day themed crafts, activities, and poems and some DIY crafts that are a great way to reuse materials for crafting!
World Environment Day is a similar celebration to Earth Day which is held every April 22nd - most of the activities for Earth Day are suitable for World Environment Day too.
