Coast Salish art and a crow
Source: Darren Guenther, © used with permission
This piece of public art is found in Oak Bay Beach, BC (on Vancouver Island).
The Coast Salish art depicts an image of Raven riding Whale.
Darren was a little freaked out when a real raven (a crow, actually) landed on the piece right when he was snapping the picture!
The Coast Salish are the aboriginal people of the Pacific Northwest coast of North America -- their people have lived continuously throughout the area since 3000 BCE or earlier.
