Abandoned Locomotive

This abandoned train engine was used in the construction of the spiral tunnels near Field, British Columbia. The Baldwin #7717 2-6-0 steam locomotive was built in 1885 and abandoned on one of the runaway tracks of the original 'big hill' rail line when the spiral tunnels were completed. The first train went through the spiral tunnels on September 1st, 1909.
