3. Put butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar in a large bowl. Beat with an electric mixer at medium speed until combined. 4. Add egg and vanilla to the butter mixture and beat. 5. In a smaller bowl, combine flour, salt and baking soda. 6. Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture about 1/4 cup at a time. You can use the electric mixture to do this until about the last 1/2 cup when you'll need to use a wooden spoon instead. 7. Use the wooden spoon to stir in the chocolate chips. 8. Drop by heaping tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheets. You can mold lightly onto the spoon with your hand before dropping the cookies, but don't play with them too much with your hands or your cookies won't be as yummy. 9. Bake 10 minutes (if you've gotten about 36 cookies out of your dough) to 15 minutes (if you've only gotten only 24 cookies out of the dough). 10. While the cookies are baking, tidy up the work area. 11. Remove the cookies from the pan with a spatula and place them in a single layer (on a plate or wire rack) to cool. |
