Baseball Player - Babe Ruth
Baseball Crafts and Activities
George Herman "Babe" Ruth, Jr. was a famous baseball player who played for the Boston Red Sox, the New York Yankees and the Boston Braves
He was born in Baltimore on February 6, 1895. Way back when, people didn't always keep track of dates as well as we do these days. Babe Ruth spent most of his life mistakenly thinking his birthday was on February 7th!
On May 25, 1935, Babe Ruth hit the final home run of his career at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh while playing for the Boston Braves against the Pittsburgh Pirates; it was his 714th home run. Shortly afterwards he announced his retirement.
Babe Ruth was a pitcher but was most famous for all of his home runs! His most famous home run was the "Called Shot". During the 1932 World Series, he pointed off to where he'd hit his home run and then he hit it; the newspaper headlines the next day talked about how Babe Ruth called the shot.
