A Story About the Greek goddess Themis
(libra)

Written by Leanne Guenther, based on Greek mythology.

Once upon a time, when the world was still young, the gods and mortals lived together in harmony. But as time passed, the mortals began to grow more corrupt and unjust, and the gods were troubled by what they saw.

One day, the goddess Themis was called upon to help solve a particularly difficult problem. A group of mortals had been accused of stealing from a wealthy merchant, but there was no clear evidence to prove their guilt or innocence. The merchants demanded justice, but the mortals claimed they were innocent.

Themis listened carefully to both sides of the argument, weighing each piece of evidence with her trusty scales. She considered the testimony of witnesses, examined the scene of the crime, and even consulted with other gods for their opinions.

In the end, Themis made her decision. She declared that the mortals were indeed guilty of stealing from the merchant, but she also saw that they were driven to their actions out of desperation and poverty. She ordered the merchants to give back some of their wealth to the community, and the mortals to make amends for their crime.

Her decision was met with some grumbling from both sides, but in the end, everyone agreed that Themis's judgment was fair and just. From that day forward, the mortals began to work harder to earn an honest living, and the merchants became more generous and charitable.

And so, Themis's wise and just judgment brought balance and harmony back to the community, reminding the mortals of the importance of fairness and justice in all their dealings.
