EASY FIRE TRUCK
CRAFT
This request came in from quite a few people who wanted something
simple to put together when teaching fire safety. I had a
very hard time coming up with a face for my Fire truck... so I'm
going to leave it to the kids to come up with their own name (I
was thinking Fred the Fire Engine, but Tasha insisted that hers
be called Franklin and Kaitlyn decided hers would be Sam).

This simple fire truck craft requires a printer, a piece of paper, some
crayons (or paint or markers), scissors and glue. I always prefer
to use a heavy paper (like construction paper), but it isn't necessary.

Instructions
- Print out the template of choice.
- Colour (where appropriate) and cut out the template pieces.
Adults may need to help with the cutting.
- If you are doing this craft with a large group, precut some
of the pieces and tape them to another piece of paper with a small
roll of masking tape so they won't wiggle around too much.
When the kids are done coloring, remove the pieces and they can
assemble right away (without waiting for cutting).
- Or, have everyone colour their pieces and write on their names.
Have an adult cut out the pieces and keep each child's together
in ziploc baggies or envelopes. Then assemble the following
day.
- Glue the face onto the front of the fire truck.
- Glue the back of the truck onto the front.
- Glue ladder onto the top (see picture at the top of this page for
inspiration).
- You can stop here and just hang your fire truck on the wall
Or you can put it on a larger collage:
- cut out a picture of a house from a magazine or
- use our HOME SWEET HOME template (color)

-- instead of gluing people's photos in the windows, just glue in
a piece of wax paper.
- cut out some strips of red, orange and yellow tissue of construction
paper fire and glue it to the roof of the home.
- you can also glue on some cotton ball smoke
- cut out photos of people (the best would be to use photos of your
own family, but you can also use people from magazines or fliers) and
have the family gathered at the assigned meeting place (as part of your
fire safety plan, you should decide where in your yard/neighbours that
everyone should meet once they get out of the house and then practice
that during fire drills)
- have the friendly fire truck driving up the street to save the day.
