Shapes Peacock Paper Craft
Shapes, Scissor Skills, Colors, and Counting Practice

This craft can be used to teach a variety of skills. You don't have to use all the thoughts for lessons... just choose the ones you're working on with your child.
There is a large version (3 templates) and a small version (1 template). The large version is a better choice if you're trying to give the children practice with their scissor skills.
Materials:
- scissors,
- glue,
- printer,
- paper
Thoughts for Lessons:
SCISSOR SKILLS:
- This craft has lots of nice large shapes to cut out -- good scissor practice!
- You can precut the template into separate pieces (roughly) to make it a bit easier for beginning crafters to cut out the pieces.
SHAPES:
- have the children make a pile of all the shapes. Brainstorm items in the household that are the same shape (a plate is a circle, for example)
COLORS:
- verbally instruct the children on how to assemble the shapes using the colors of the shapes. (ie: Take the blue oval and glue it on the green oval.).
SIZES:
- show the children two shapes and ask -- is this one bigger, smaller or the same size as that one.
COUNTING:
- Count the shapes.
- Count the shapes of separating them into piles of each type of shapes
- More/Less -- are there more ovals or more triangles? which shape has the most pieces? which shape has the least pieces? (questions like that)
Assembly Directions:

Glue the small circle as a head on top of the larger body circle.

Glue the circle eyes and blue triangle to the head.

Glue the triangle beak below the eyes.

Glue the medium sized oval wings onto the sides of the body.

Glue the triangle feet onto the bottom of the body.

Glue the large colorful oval feathers onto the back of the body.
Templates:
- Close the template window after printing to return to this screen.
- Set page margins to zero if you have trouble fitting the template on one page (FILE, PAGE SETUP or FILE, PRINTER SETUP in most browsers).
