Indigenous Peoples of North America (First Nations, Inuit, and Native American) Printable Crafts and Activities
The "teaching of the braid" is something I'm so grateful to have learned when studying about indigenous cultures. When I braid the girls' hair or my own, I silently repeat the mantra "body, mind and spirit" over and over as I weave the three strands of hair together. It's so important to remember that body, mind and spirit are wrapped together, supporting each other and making a beautiful whole!
National Indigenous Peoples Day (Canada) - June 21st
Canada celebrates National Indigenous Peoples Day every year on June 21. This holiday is an important way to acknowledge the heritage and cultures of the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples and recognize the incredible achievements of Indigenous peoples. This anniversary dates back to 1996 and is an important time to learn about Indigenous history and participate in activities led by First Nations, Inuit, and Métis groups.
