DLTK's Crafts for Kids
Bat Paper Craft
contributed by Leanne Guenther
This adorable little bat is a simple cut and paste paper craft for children to make. The shapes are easy to cut out, with bold lines, making it a good choice for young children just learning to use scissors.
Did you know?
Bats are the only mammals that can truly fly! They flap their wings just like birds, but their wings are actually made from thin skin stretched over their fingers!
Materials:
- something to color with if using the B&W version,
- scissors,
- glue,
- paper
- Optional: wiggly eyes
Instructions:
- Print out the template of choice -- there is a choice of black and white or color.
- If using the B&W template, this is the children's chance to get creative. Color it in however you like using colored pencils, crayons, markers, pastels or paints. While most bats are shades of black, grey and brown, your bat can be any color you like!
- Cut out the craft template pieces. Some of the pieces may require the help of an adult or older child.
- Glue the bat together:
- Glue the head onto the body.
- Glue the wings behind the body.
- Glue the snout/mouth onto the head.
- Glue the eyes above the snout/mouth.
- Glue the ears onto the head.
Templates:
- Close the template window after printing to return to this screen.
- Set page margins to zero if you have trouble fitting the template on one page (FILE, PAGE SETUP or FILE, PRINTER SETUP in most browsers).
