Communications Outlook
Learn how to send a fax or e-mail. Show how to do this.
Outlook Express (Outlook Explorer works identically, but you click the Explorer icon)
- Open Outlook Express by Double clicking an Outlook Express short cut icon on your
desktop.
- On the toolbar at the top left, click the Compose Message button.
- In the To box, type the email address of the person you want
to send the email to.
ex: [email protected]
Make sure you type the address exactly including the funny characters like @ and . - In the Subject box, type a message title. This should be
quite brief and explain what your note is about.
ex: Love you Grandma! - Type your message in the large white box. Be polite.
- Read your message through. Were you polite? Did you miss any words? Did you spell everything correctly?
- When you are happy with your message, click the Send button on the toolbar.
That's it! You've sent your first email message!
Email Safety
- never respond to an email message from a person you don't know. You can see the email address of the person sending the message. If you don't recognize the address, don't even open the message. Have mom or dad look at it first.
- never open attachments on email messages.
- never click hyperlinks in an email message. Ask mom or dad to check out the website before you go there.
- talk to mom and dad right away if there is anything you are uncomfortable with or unsure of.
