Puerto Rico, a Caribbean archipelago country in the continent of North America, is known for its collection of beautiful islands and its rich cultural history. It is an important place for children to study for these reasons.

Puerto Rico is a self governing commonwealth associated with the United States. The island's inhabitants possess all the rights and obligations of United States citizens such as paying social security, receiving federal welfare and serving in the armed forces, except for the right to vote in presidential elections and the obligation to pay federal taxes.
Spanish is the first official language of Puerto Rico, while English is the second official language. Indigenous language speakers speak Taíno in Puerto Rico.
Puerto Rico is a country found in the Northern Hemisphere and Western Hemisphere of the globe. As of 2021, Puerto Rico does not have any political divisions in a legal sense; however, there are 7 regions of Puerto Rico, each with multiple municipalities. The North region has 10 major municipalities: Arecibo, Barceloneta, Camuy, Dorado, Florida, Hatillo, Manatí, Toa Alta, Vega Alta, and Vega Baja. The Metro region has 7 major municipalities, including the capital city of San Juan: Bayamón, Carolina, Cataño, Guaynabo, San Juan, Toa Baja, andTrujillo Alto. The East region has 17 major municipalities: Caguas, Canóvanas, Ceiba, Culebra, Fajardo, Gurabo, Humacao, Juncos, Las Piedras, Loíza, Luquillo, Maunabo, Naguabo, Río Grande, San Lorenzo, Yabucoa, and Vieques. The Central region has 14 major municipalities: Adjuntas, Aguas Buenas, Aibonito, Barranquitas, Cayey, Ciales, Cidra, Comerío, Corozal, Jayuya, Morovis, Naranjito, Orocovis, and Utuado. The South region has 12 major municipalities: Arroyo, Caja de Muertos, Coamo, Guayama, Guayanilla, Juana Díaz, Patillas, Peñuelas, Ponce, Salinas, Santa Isabel, and Villalba. And the West region has 20 major municipalities: Aguada, Aguadilla, Añasco, Cabo Rojo, Guánica, Hormigueros, Isabela, Lajas, Lares, Las Marías, Maricao, Mayagüez, Moca, Mona, Quebradillas, Rincón, Sabana Grande, San Germán, San Sebastián, and Yauco.
Since Puerto Rico is a Caribbean archipelago, it comprises a stretch of islands surrounded by the water. To the west, it has maritime borders with Haití and the Dominican Republic, separated by the Mona Passage; to the east, it has maritime borders with the Virgin Islands; to the north is the Atlantic Ocean; and to the south is the Caribbean Sea.
