Mulla Nasruddin's Fables - Mulla Nasruddin Feeds His Coat

Once upon a time, Nasruddin was invited to a dinner party. He did not care too much to think about what he should wear, so he put on his typical old coat and went out.

Nasruddin's Fur Coat

When he got to the dinner party, he noticed that no one cared to talk to him. After some time of loneliness at the party, Nasruddin decided to quickly head home.

Once he got home, he changed into his brand new robe and this time put on a fur coat. Upon returning to the dinner party; he was kindly greeted at the door, was taken to the nicest table at the party, and provided with the most delicious appetizers and meals.

However, Nasruddin did something quite peculiar: every time he was offered a plate of food, he would dip the collar of his fur coat into it while he would say:

"Eat; fur coat, eat!"

Everybody reacted in confusion as they saw Nasruddin do this. One of the party guests asked, "Why are you doing this, sir?"

Nasruddin laughed before he replied, "since you were all so kind and generous to my fur coat, it should be eating the food as well."
