Mulla Nasruddin's Fables - The Lamp and the Key

One day; Nasruddin's friend, Mansour, finds Nasruddin under a street lamp. He noticed that Nasruddin looked like he was searching for something, as he was on his hands and knees and looked quite desperate.

The street lamp and the key.

Out of confusion; Mansour asked Nasruddin, "What are you doing? Are you looking for something?"

"Yes, I've lost my house key," replied Nasruddin, "and I've been here looking for it for what seems like forever!"

"I'll help you!" replied Mansour. Now, Mansour and Nasruddin are on their hands and knees searching for this key under the street lamp.

After nearly an hour of looking for this key, neither of them could find it. Now even more confused, Mansour thought of an important question to ask his friend.

"Nasruddin, could you retrace your steps? When was the last time you saw your key?" asked Mansour.

"I lost it in my house," Nasruddin replied.

Mansour was shocked. "Why are you looking for the key under this street lamp then, if you have known this whole time that it is in your house?"

Nasruddin replies promptly, "Because there is more light for me to see here, with this street lamp!"
