Have you ever wondered what it would be like to put together a country? Well, here's your chance to try.
Canadian Fast Fact: In April, 1999 the third territory (Nunavut) was formed (and here I thought we were done!)
Materials:
a printer,
paper,
scissors,
glue,
some cardboard (optional).
Instructions:
Print out the template.
Color pieces if you want.
Optional: Glue uncut template to cardboard if you want your puzzle
to be sturdy and reusable (cereal boxes are a good source of cardboard).
Cut out the template pieces. Some of the provinces are together on
pieces (so it's easier for the children to assemble). There are 7
pieces all together. There are also some straight dotted lines around
zigzaggy portions of the country to make it easier for children to cut out.
If you want the puzzle to be one time only, glue the puzzle pieces to the Canada background.
If you want it to be reusable, just arrange the pieces where they go. Mix them up and do it over (and over, and over...).
For extra "homework" try to name the provinces and territories you are putting on the board or mark where the capital cities are.

Set page margins to zero if you have trouble fitting the template on one page (FILE, PAGE SETUP or FILE, PRINTER SETUP in most browsers).
